Mother’s Day lands on May 8 this year, and sons and daughters everywhere will shower appreciation upon those extraordinary women who gave them life. In the U.S. alone, kids and husbands of mothers will spend approximately $21.4 billion on gifts for mom, more than half of that on jewelry, special outings and flowers.

Those are terrific gestures to say thanks to mom, but perhaps the best thing you can do to show your gratitude won’t cost you a penny: tell the whole world why your mom is the best.

LifePosts is proud to be helping folks do just that. There are plenty of vibrant, beautiful tributes to mom – like this one – for Mother’s Day on our platform, and you can make yours here.

But there are plenty of people who haven’t yet heard of LifePosts, and that’s a lot of moms we think deserve some praise. So LifePosts is proud to have built a special tool that can go on any website, giving them a poignant “memory wall” where users can share photos, meaningful memories and important lessons they learned from mom.

Here’s how just a few of our partners are using this tool:

  • Huffington Post asks: “What’s the best piece of advice your mom ever gave you?” – This is in addition to a special LifePost Arianna Huffington and her sister, Agapi, made in honor of their mom.
  • Minnesota Public Radio prompts: “My fondest memory of my mother…” – This special page complements a package of four LifePosts the station made honoring extraordinary mothers in Rochester, Minn. Check out those posts here, here, here and here.
  • Morristown Green asks: “What’s the greatest lesson your mother taught you?” – The New Jersey news outlet is creating an archive of “Mother knows best” wisdom. Here’s one of my favorite lessons, which I typically ignore: “My mom taught me many things; some lessons I have only fully appreciated since her passing. Others I still don’t quite grasp. One of her earliest ones continues to make me smile. It’s more of a rule, really, and though Mom never elaborated, I never break it: “No candy in the morning!”
  • My Edmonds News prompts: “My favorite memory of my mother is…” – For one reader, it was a eclectic Easter family tradition: “One of the things I remember most is how talented she was with a sewing machine! She made almost all of our clothes and a lot of our toys. At Easter, instead of an Easter egg hunt, she would put together an elaborate scavenger hunt with a big present at the end – usually a handmade stuffed animal or beautiful decorative pillow. I so wish I still had some of the things she made me as a child!” The Washington-based news outlet is running the same question on its sister sites,  and .

Here’s a partial list of sites using the LifePosts-powered storytelling platform to celebrate moms in their communities:
